Phi Mu

Welcome!
Phi Mu Alpha Nu
Hi all, and welcome to Phi Mu at the University of Florida!
My name is Ryan Kruger, and it has truly been nothing short of my dream come true to work with my best friends as this year’s President of Phi Mu Alpha Nu. When I went through recruitment as a freshman, there were a few pieces of advice that I carried with me, helping to guide my recruitment journey. The first, that I have heard since before joining Phi Mu and still many times after, was to find the chapter that showed you the women you wanted to become. Immediately I felt this way, even during recruitment – meeting women who were authentic, accomplished, and deeply caring. Being greeted by Stella and hearing about her experiences as a Cicerone, I knew right away that I was in the right place. Little did I know that later that semester, I would be at her birthday dinner, then crying at her graduation just another year later.
Beyond just this sentiment of finding the women that I wanted to become one day, something that a Pi Chi told me was to choose the house that I would feel the most comfortable embarrassing myself in. While at first this advice did not make sense to me, I began to realize after running home on bid day how important this idea was. Immediately, I felt completely safe and at home at Phi Mu. I knew, and still do now, that every room I walk into that there are friends waiting for me. Even within my first two weeks in the chapter, I knew I felt comfortable coming to the house to watch football games, to listen to 1989 (Taylor’s Version) for the first time, or even just a friend to drink coffee with. Phi Mu has truly become my shelter from the rest of the world, and I know that when my classes get difficult, when my involvements become stressful, or just when life is hard, I have a place to come that is overflowing with laughs, care, and love.

I have Phi Mu to thank for everything – for showing me the goals I can aspire to, for providing the women to help me reach them, and for providing a safe place to land even when the world isn’t the place I need it to be. Late nights laughing on the Phi Mu couch, last minute double moped rides to Opus coffee, and road trips to the beach, Universal, and hometowns are the hallmarks of my Phi Mu experience, and shaped me into a woman that I am proud to become!
LIOB forever and always,
