LOVE

TRUTH
Phi Mu was founded on March 4, 1852, at Wesleyan College. It was originally established as a literary club, known as the Philomathean Society, by three visionary women: Mary Ann DuPont Lines, Mary Elizabeth Myrick Daniel, and Martha Bibb Hardaway Redding. As the second-oldest sorority in the United States, Phi Mu has fostered a vibrant community of over 200,000 women, united by a shared commitment to academic excellence, personal development, service to others, and lifelong friendship.
Our motto, “Les Soueres Fideles,” meaning “The Faithful Sisters,” demonstrates our meaningful bonds of loyalty and support. Rose pink and white are our colors that reflect the warmth and purity of sisterhood. The official flower is the rose-colored carnation which represents our love for one another. Sir Fidel, our lion mascot, embodies strength, courage, and devotion, and the barbed quatrefoil symbolizes our commitment to tradition and unity. Members are dedicated to our philanthropy, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Through shared values of love, honor, and truth, Phi Mu continues to empower women to excel and positively impact the world.
